You will rarely see my children out in public without some type of bow in their hair. They like big bows, and as the saying goes, “the bigger the bow, the better the mom”. Since hair bows are pretty much disposable (they get dirty, broken or lost), I couldn’t justify spending $20 on one hair bow when my daughter asked for a cheer style bow. Since I’m pretty crafty (and I make most of their other bows), I began looking for a tutorial for a cheer bow.
As usual, Pinterest did not disappoint. I found Totally the Bomb and her wonderfully descriptive tutorial.
Of course, I couldn’t follow the directions exactly. I used permanent fabric glue instead of sewing. If you remember the Pony-Os, you know that I’m not opposed to sewing bows. The reason I didn’t sew this bow is that I really can’t sew a straight line to save my life and I wasn’t planning on heat sealing spandex over my ribbons (although they are super cute that way). There was no way I was going to attempt to sew that many lines, especially not ones almost 3 feet long. Other than that, her directions were awesome. Zip ties are the best thing to ever happen to bow making. I use them to hold most of the bows that I make.
Using a hair dryer to speed up the drying of the fabric glue, it took me about 15 minutes to make this bow.
